Made-Up Memories
Made-Up Memories
Made-Up Memories is a series of generative workshops where people of all ages make their own fictional autobiographies. It’s the DIY way to learn history, both personal and shared.
Participants are presented with curated archives and creative prompts in an effort to relate to each other fictionally in a way not possible through an imposed reality. Buried stories and unsung heroes are unearthed in the process. The emerging artworks, part-confession, part-concoction, are a collection of the funniest, simplest, most insightful, "I remembers".
Made-Up Memories traveled across Miami and Brooklyn, visiting museums such as Lowe Art Museum, History Miami Museum and took residency in Brooklyn’s Public Library from 2017 to 2018, engaging with hundreds of kids and adults through art and history programming.
